weekend update - hoorah and Lois

my weekend was pretty eventful.

one of my best friends is going to Chicago all summer on an internship, so we went out to celebrate her last hoorah here in Ohio for a while. it was a good time, as always. I love my friends.

I also dog sat little Lo-baby again. we also had a good time together, filled with many movies and lots of tug-o-war and fetch.

Movie 43: eh. it was okay, pretty stupid yet still funny. I wouldn't really recommend it to anyone unless you have nothing better to do.
Adventures in Babysitting: fantastic. it's from the late 80's, so the acting is horrible, but it's hilarious. I really enjoyed it. shout out to Melissa for recommending it to me.
10 Years: pretty good actually. it was a solid decent movie. it's about a group of friends coming back together at their 10 year reunion.
That Awkward Moment: wasn't that great. just your average movie. but my main guy, Zac Efron, was in it so that made it better.
Along Came a Spider: absolutely loved this movie. finally a movie that is exactly what I think during other crap movies.. for example, when someone is shooting at someone who gets into a car and drives away I always think "shoot for the tires" I mean, why would you not? so imagine my excitement when Morgan Freeman announces "aim for the tires!" and the ending was great. I loved all of this movie.
End of Watch: also really good. action packed, and Jake Gyllenhaal is in it. really good, I'd recommend this to anyone who likes action/cop movies.
Fear Island: total crap. I hated this whole movie until the very end. the ending was good, the rest of it not worth it. the acting was horrible. it's really not worth watching.

and that pretty much sums up my weekend.

tonight I'm going to the Indians game, which I'm super pumped about! the weather is perfect. Roll Tribe!

weekend update - Lois

I got to watch my dog niece, Lois Lane, this past weekend. I love watching her.

Friday, I had to close work. so my whole day was spent at Beans Coffee Shop.

Saturday, I worked and then got to watch Lo-baby. we always have a good time together, playing fetch and she loves chasing the laser pointer.

and of course I took full advantage of Netflix.

Psycho- I had never seen it completely. so I finally watched it all the way through. classic.

Turbo- it was available for instant watch, so I figured why not. it was our average Disney animated movie. there was one part where I couldn't stop laughing though.

Stand Up Guys- also available on instant watch. I enjoyed it overall. there was a few times I didn't care for it, but mostly it had my attention. "the best thing a person can be is of some use."

I also met up with some friends for a few drinks just down the street. that was a good time, as always.

Sunday, hung out with Lo for the morning and most of the afternoon. then home for a nap, and my family watched a marathon of a show called Swamp People. the people on that show are crazy, and I really can't believe that they're still alive.

overall, I'd say it was a solid weekend.

I'm super excited for tomorrow, I'm going to the Indians game with a friend I haven't seen in a while. should be a great time.

soldier

what. a. weekend.

wow.

on Friday I got very exciting news. Josh, my army friend, came home! he tried to call me when his plane landed to say "surprise!" but I was already sleeping. the next morning at work a friend from high school home for Easter comes into my work and tells me "I sat next to your friend on the plane. told him I was from Chardon and he says 'this is random, but do you know Cassie Lane?'" -how crazy is that?! they sat next to each other on the plane ride home. totes cray.

anyways, so he invited me to a bar out by his house for a welcome home type of party. it was one hell of a night, to say the least. I didn't get home until about 445am, granted I had an hour drive home after I left, but still. I mean, I haven't seen him since October, and who knows when I'll get to see him again so I took full advantage of the time I had. (June or July, he said.. we'll see.)

I made Carrie come with me.

and my fav picture of the night. of possibly ever.

it was so great seeing him again. I've missed his "barrel chested American freedom fighter" self.

:)

worst morning ever

my weekend was certainly filled with ups and downs. it was cray.

I went to the Monsters game and watched them win in the 10th round of shootouts. it was awesome.

I watched a few movies.
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. it was so great. my coworker told me to watch it, and since it's on Netflix instant watch I did. it's about these two hillbilly guys who are just trying to have a good time at their new vacation home, when a group of college kids think they're serial killers. it's pretty funny, and I would definitely recommend it.
Ghostbusters. it was alright. I think if I would have watched it at a younger age I would have thought it was cooler.
Stripes. it's an old movie, but my mom and dad loved it when it first came out. my mom said I should watch it, it was okay. some parts were funny, some of it I didn't care about.
Catching Fire. I love the Hunger Games books, and liked the first movie too. this one was good as well, but I still like numero uno better.

and that brings me to my worst morning ever. over the weekend my dad and little bro went down to help my dads friend do some work and what not, they were three hours away from home. on Sunday I woke up with a few missed calls from my little bro. I immediately was worried cause he never calls me. and then I read a text from my cousin that said "just saw pics of your dad.. holy shit" which caused me to go into an instant panic. I kept calling my brother and he wasn't answering, nor was my cousin. as the morning went on my mom and I got more texts from family friends saying things like "I'm so sorry, if there's anything we can do let us know" I was shaking so bad, my eyes wouldn't stop watering, I felt like I was going to puke. it was horrifying. my mom and I just kept trying to call my brother, my dad, and two other guys with them. no one was answering. finally I got a hold of my cousin.

basically, my dad fell into the fire pit when he went to get out of his chair and he tripped over a log. he has 3rd degree burns on his hand, around his knee, and a little on his ear. I was so relieved to hear he was going to be okay. he's in a lot of pain still and has to wear this glove-ish thing for a week that just drips puss. super gross. but with some recovery time he'll be okay. and luckily my little bro pulled him out of the fire extremely quick or things would have been way worse (says the doc).

I'd appreciate it if you have an extra prayer to say if you could send it my dads way. he's a tough guy, and it takes more than a few burns to really hurt a Lane, but a prayer would still be nice. or positive vibes, good thoughts, whatever you believe in.

I'm very aware that I have the best friends in the entire world and my family is very blessed to know fantastic people. so many of them were calling/texting/etc making sure we were okay and asking if there was anything they could do for us. and asking throughout the day how my dad was holding up. and even continuing to ask about him today. it's really amazing at how fantastic everyone has been towards my family. I love you all, thank you!

cheers to a quick recovery.

also, fuck this snow.

tonight it's bottoms up, Brian's 21st

wow.

what a weekend.

Friday, Brian's 21st birthday celebration. which, to summarize, was unbelievably epic. the whole night was just wow.

there was:
an Indians win.
my cousin trying my vodka and sprite drink claiming it was strong. I told him it wasn't, he said it was, so I made some random guy try it.
me trying to order drinks when I still have drinks that I didn't know I had.
the waitress/bartender giving me new drinks before I even finished the last one, and without me even asking.
I also knocked over a chair and immediately put my hands up and said "it wasn't me" when clearly it was me.
phone calls. lots of phone calls. mostly to Josh, but a few other people made appearances too.
Fabio.
playing rock, paper, scissors with my cousins.
yelling UConn as loud as I could.
and the drive home/getting into my bed process I have no recollection of, but I guess we stopped at Taco Bell. which I referred to as "the tbell" and Josh knew what I was talking about- win.

that's pretty much all I remember.

Saturday, I woke up with no hangover. which was remarkable considering the amount of alcohol I consumed. and I trekked out to my first Indians game of the year. my friend Erin got free tickets from her work, that were 'loaded' with a free $5 for food, hello nachos.

the seats were awesome, two rows behind the Indians dugout. (I've sat in those same seats many times before though, when my dad gets the same tickets, from the same work place.) it was a bit cold, and the Indians lost, but it still felt great being back with my boys again. I love my Tribe guys.

after the game it was home for a nap. then I watched Florida lose to UConn and it was amazing. my uncle and I officially tie. which means I have yet to lose against my uncle in our bracket bet.

overall I had an amazing weekend. one of the best weekends I've had in a while. birthday celebration, Indians game, and a tie against my uncle. I'm one happy girl, life is good!

how was your weekend?

weekend update - Jim Gaffigan

I had a pretty good weekend. a few things could have been better though.

I...

saw Jim Gaffigan with the fam. he was hilarious. I mean, I knew that before the show but he really was funny. I was laughing the entire time. and even the guy who opened for him was pretty good. afterwards, we had a few drinks at Tilted Kilt (which was horrible. service was horrible, food was eh, drinks were blah, not a good experience.) then we headed to the casino for a bit. before calling it a night.

watched more episodes of The Following. still in season one, but I only have 5 more episodes to go. then I just have to get caught up with season two.

watched the Arizona Wildcats kill my bracket. they lost to Wisconsin, and I had them going all the way. I was extremely upset. Josh told me, "there's always next year" to which I replied "spoken like a true Browns fan" but I'm sick and tired of 'next year'.

was stuck at home Saturday night because mother nature decided to dump a few inches of freezing rain, ice, snow, sleet, shit on Chardon. thanks for that. but not really.

worked. the usual.

played Monopoly online. but like anyone who plays Monopoly I quit. it's not as fun online, the amount of times the stupid game made me go to jail was insane.

I think that's about it.

Happy Opening Day!
ROLL TRIBE!

my best friend is twenty-one

wow. what a weekend.

one of my best friends was home from school over the weekend. she finally turned 21 at the end of January, so we were finally able to celebrate. it was one hell of a night.

I have a track record of getting so drunk I puke on my friends birthdays. so I didn't really have high hopes for functioning in a sober manor. this particular night I didn't actually puke though, win! but I did have an extreme amount of alcohol. and I think I died at some point.

the next day (Saturday) I went to work, feeling like death. that was not fun. my boss being the amazing person she is let me leave early. I went home and slept. woke up, ate three chicken nuggets with a glass of apple juice, and then slept some more. woke up, had half a bagel, watched a few movies on tv, and slept on and off until finally deciding to go to sleep. all in all I slept about 14hours.

oh, and I was supposed to go out for my other friends birthday Saturday night. clearly that didn't happen.

anyways, here's how my Friday night looked...

we saw my parents for a few minutes too. (that's dad)
the birthday girl. holler at the blue tongue, courtesy of the fishbowl we drank.

I wish I had access to this hilarious picture of me and Malone dancing, but sadly I don't.

how was your weekend?

the week and the weekend

because I completely dropped and lost the ball on Wednesday and Friday I figured I should do a little updating.

my healthy lifestyle is still going well. I'm down a solid 11 pounds, but I've been pretty busy so I haven't been able to get in a workout every day like I would like. I do it when I can though. I even passed on filet mignon and lobster to eat healthier, which was extremely hard for me to do.

besides that...

I visited my Gram last week. she's doing better. her wrist is only a slight fracture, so she doesn't need a cast which she was pumped about. and her bruised face, although it looks bad, doesn't hurt her. really the only thing that does is her shoulder. she got an MRI done and is waiting for the results, she may need surgery. hopefully not though. I brought her stir-fry, which was delish, and we chatted about her trip to Florida and what not. everything was going well until my car alarm decided to start going off for no reason whatsoever every 10-20min. it was quite annoying, so my visitation was cut short. I have no idea why it was going off, it hasn't gone off since I left, super weird.

Josh is officially graduated from AIT training. I couldn't be more proud of him, between boot camp and that he's been through hell and back, yet he's still humble about it all. amazing! unfortunately he doesn't get a leave so I don't get to see him yet, but he has his phone so I get to talk to him, which is enough for me.

I got new Nike's. I love me a good pair of Nike shoes. you can see them on my instagram, @casslane10

I got my automatic remote start installed! it only took four damn hours. during the wait mom and I did a little shopping, that's when I got my new shoes, and we ate dinner at Ruby Tuesday (I got a meal off their fit&trim menu, it was only 400 calories, and it was delicious.)

as for this past weekend...

my family has been watching a lot of the olympics. I'm a fan of the downhill skiing, they go so damn fast.

I watched more movies:
Zoolander- I've only seen bits and pieces of it, I never watched it fully from start to finish. it was pretty good, I think Ben Stiller, Will Ferrel, and Owen Wilson are funny so I was kinda biased.

The Forgotten- first I didn't think I had seen it. after it started I thought maybe I had, then I knew for sure that I had already seen it but couldn't remember it. so I watched it, or re-watched it I guess. (ironically I had forgotten I had seen it and it's called The Forgotten.) but it was good.

Super Troopers- wasn't a fan. it was funny at first, and I thought it was decent throughout most of it, but by the end of the movie I was over it.

The Croods- it was available for instant watch on Netflix so I figured why not. it was alright, not my favorite Dreamworks movie. typical kids movie.

White House Down- no where near as good as I thought it would be. completely unrealistic and extremely cheesy. the only good thing was Channing Tatum. wasn't a fan.

today...

I'm going to the West Side Market with my dad, Randy, and my gram. should be a fun time. the market is famous in Ohio, it's just a place that has a bunch of vendors offering various meats, veggies, and fruits. it's pretty cool.

how was your weekend?

weekend update - bowling

I had a pretty solid weekend, how was yours?

bowling. my friend Allison invited me along to her work party, her older brother owns the company so a bunch of her family was there. we went bowling and had a few drinks, I haven't bowled in so long, it was really fun (even though I'm horrible). I had a great night.

movies. I've been watching so many movies lately, but I love it. I need to catch up on ones I haven't seen. this past weekend I brought our wii upstairs to our living room to get instant Netflix access. I watched,

American Psycho- Randy suggested I watch it, I'm glad I did. I thought it was really good. funny, yet creepy. Christian Bale did fantastic, I will definitely watch it again, and I definitely recommend it.

Zodiac- it was good, but nothing super great. I enjoyed learning more about what happened since it was based on a real serial killer.

Reservoir Dogs- pretty good, a little confusing at first but I liked how it all turned out in the end.

Fire and Fire- it was an instant watch Netflix movie with Bruce Willis and Josh Duhamel. it was alright, typical action kinda movie. very predictable. and I wish Josh's character would have been more badass, he was too ball-less in the beginning.

I also watched a few more episodes of Parks&Rec, I'm into season three now.

my Gram. my grandma is the best person I know. and I know a few of you are fans of her as well just based on what I've written. recently she arrived back to Ohio after visiting her sister in Florida, and took a pretty bad fall. she tripped and went down face first. broke her wrist, and banged up her face pretty bad. the worst bruise/black eye I've ever seen in my life. she'll be okay after everything heals up, but it was still a scary moment and she still hurt herself. I know she'll be okay because she's still cracking jokes, but if y'all have an extra prayer I know she'd appreciate it.

work. I worked and when I'm not at work I'm using free time to prepare for my work advancement.

well, that's all I did.

weekend update - Lois Lane

this weekend I...

got to watch my dog-niece, Lois. I love watching her, I get a nice quiet night to myself, play some fetch, and just hangout with a pup.

she loves burying herself under the covers/blankets

watched five movies. four in one night and one the next day. I don't know how I did it, but I did. I watched: Planes- it was alright, not as good as Cars though. Drinking Buddies- loved it. way better than I thought it was going to be. but the ending left me wondering, I'm not sure if I loved the ending or hated it. Holiday Engagement- it was alright, I suppose. just your typical romantic comedy, pretty predictable. Expendables 2- good, like the first one. but Stalone is old and weird looking. and it was extremely unrealistic. The Possession- eh. my mom saw it in theaters and said it was scary, so I was hoping it would be, but it wasn't scary at all. like not at all. zero.
and then I watched half of Robin Hood (2010 version with Russel Crowe) but it wasn't very good and then I looked it up and saw it was over 2hrs long so I stopped it. and I saw the last 15min of Iron Man (it was on tv). and watched two episodes of Psych. good thing Randy/Melissa have a comfy couch.

worked.

watched football. I predicted the Broncos and Seahawks. and my dad asked by how much I thought the teams were going to win by and I said the Broncs were going to win by 10, and then they went and won by 10. holla!

how was your weekend?

weekend update

I have been very productive lately, I like it.

this past weekend I...

saw Anchorman 2 and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. both were good. I thought the first Anchorman was better than the second, but isn't how it always is? the second one wasn't as funny, didn't have as many quotable moments, and was too long. as for Paranormal, it wasn't scary but the ending was great, I loved how they tied it all together, and I can't wait for Paranormal Activity 5 (comes out in October!)

ate at Sushi Rock for the first time. it was so damn good. I tried two different kinds of sushi rolls, and mom tried three, one of them being the filet/lobster roll which came with a magical dipping sauce. it was phenom.

went to my little cousin's championship soccer game (he's six, playing on a nine and under team.) and I witnessed him score a goal to tie it up 2-2. it was awesome. Mo (his mom, my cousin by marriage) and I were going crazy. both of us had sore hands and throats afterwards because we were yelling and clapping so much. my cousin's team ended up losing the game in overtime though, unfortunately.

went grocery shopping with mom and bought a bunch of healthy items. then I made these healthy dessert bar things, if they're good I'll share the recipe. I haven't eaten one yet though.

did more decluttering. I had about half of a garbage bag full already and was hoping to finish it off, which is exactly what I did. I had already decluttered my desk area, this time I moved to my cd rack area (who still has a cd holder? not me anymore), the shelf in my closet, makeup basket, and my big tv dresser. I even dusted a little, big progress, folks, big progress. every time I clean an area it looks ridiculously better. still have a ways to go, but so far so good.

watched and predicted the 49ers win. go Phil Dawson!

I miss him wearing that Brown and Orange
exchanged my winning lottery tickets for $6. yes, I'm that person that wins six dollars and takes the money instead of new lottery tickets.

wrote/scheduled almost all of my posts for this week.

how was your weekend?
