I went to the Monsters game and watched them win in the 10th round of shootouts. it was awesome.
I watched a few movies.
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. it was so great. my coworker told me to watch it, and since it's on Netflix instant watch I did. it's about these two hillbilly guys who are just trying to have a good time at their new vacation home, when a group of college kids think they're serial killers. it's pretty funny, and I would definitely recommend it.
Ghostbusters. it was alright. I think if I would have watched it at a younger age I would have thought it was cooler.
Stripes. it's an old movie, but my mom and dad loved it when it first came out. my mom said I should watch it, it was okay. some parts were funny, some of it I didn't care about.
Catching Fire. I love the Hunger Games books, and liked the first movie too. this one was good as well, but I still like numero uno better.
and that brings me to my worst morning ever. over the weekend my dad and little bro went down to help my dads friend do some work and what not, they were three hours away from home. on Sunday I woke up with a few missed calls from my little bro. I immediately was worried cause he never calls me. and then I read a text from my cousin that said "just saw pics of your dad.. holy shit" which caused me to go into an instant panic. I kept calling my brother and he wasn't answering, nor was my cousin. as the morning went on my mom and I got more texts from family friends saying things like "I'm so sorry, if there's anything we can do let us know" I was shaking so bad, my eyes wouldn't stop watering, I felt like I was going to puke. it was horrifying. my mom and I just kept trying to call my brother, my dad, and two other guys with them. no one was answering. finally I got a hold of my cousin.
basically, my dad fell into the fire pit when he went to get out of his chair and he tripped over a log. he has 3rd degree burns on his hand, around his knee, and a little on his ear. I was so relieved to hear he was going to be okay. he's in a lot of pain still and has to wear this glove-ish thing for a week that just drips puss. super gross. but with some recovery time he'll be okay. and luckily my little bro pulled him out of the fire extremely quick or things would have been way worse (says the doc).
I'd appreciate it if you have an extra prayer to say if you could send it my dads way. he's a tough guy, and it takes more than a few burns to really hurt a Lane, but a prayer would still be nice. or positive vibes, good thoughts, whatever you believe in.
I'm very aware that I have the best friends in the entire world and my family is very blessed to know fantastic people. so many of them were calling/texting/etc making sure we were okay and asking if there was anything they could do for us. and asking throughout the day how my dad was holding up. and even continuing to ask about him today. it's really amazing at how fantastic everyone has been towards my family. I love you all, thank you!
cheers to a quick recovery.
also, fuck this snow.
