round one and round two.

round one::
well, my chance at that billion dollars was short lived thanks to my main guys, The Ohio State Buckeyes. very first game of the madness and my bracket was no longer perfect.

not to mention Duke's loss. (which I'm only pissed about because I almost took Mercer. I thought about it for a while but stuck with Duke. agh.) same thing with Cincinnati, for a split second I thought about taking Harvard but quickly brushed them off.

oh, and NC State blew a 16 point lead. what the hell guys?! mad at y'all.

the VCU - Stephen F Austin finish was probably the most insane thing I've ever seen happen. VCU was up by 4 points, that would make it a double possession game. there was only 10sec left. even the announcers were saying the game was over. that is until SFA went to shoot a 3-pointer and an idiotic VCU guy fouled him. SFA guy makes the 3, and then makes the foul shot. tied game. it was crazy. all VCU had to do was not foul him and they would have won.

I was correct however with picking:
Wisconsin, ND State, Florida, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Oregon, Michigan State, UConn, Michigan, Villanova, Texas, Louisville, SD State, UCLA, Kansas, Virginia, North Carolina, Iowa State, Arizona, Baylor, Creighton, Kentucky, Wichita State, Memphis

second round:

damn you Wichita State. I needed that win and another from you.

then there's the Stanford over Kansas upset. I needed Kansas to win, plus one more.

but can't say I'm all that surprised at the Villanova upset. I only had them going that far.

I was right with:
Florida, UCLA, Virginia, Michigan State, Iowa State, Arizona, SD State, Wisconsin, Louisville, and Michigan.

moving into the Elite Eight, I need wins from: Arizona, Wisconsin (although I wouldn't be terribly mad if Baylor somehow upset them), Kentucky, Michigan, Iowa State (this one is big), Michigan State, and Florida (although I wouldn't be terribly mad if they got upset at any point during the tourney).

and that's my bracket. so far I'm tied with my Uncle, but this next round could change that. and if Arizona goes all the way I have a chance at winning one of my pools. Go Wildcats!

how's your bracket holding up against the madness?

  1. I'm winning my family's pool and I think it'll be pretty hard for anyone to beat me at this point. In our neighborhood pool (which I've won the past two years) I'm currently tied for 2nd. I also have Arizona winning it all. Go Wildcats!
