new adventures

I love new experiences. I love learning new things, especially when I'm already interested in the topic.

what I'm getting at is this:

first, here's some back story, I've worked part-time at a local coffee shop for just over 5 years now. I love the people I work with, I've loved the two bosses/owners I've worked under, and I love (sometimes) the customers that come in.

the current owner decided to expand from just a coffee shop and do more lunch items as well. that change has been successful, and now she wants to add even more, a bar.

I was stoked about this. I think it's a great idea. and I was even more excited when she asked me to be the bar manager. I get a raise, and I get to work/be involved with the bar. which is super exciting for me. I mean, I love alcohol already. I know a lot about mixed drinks and my friends always have me make their drinks for them because they think I'm the best at it. so of course I accepted the challenge.

I'll have to work on my wine knowledge and my taste in beer, but I'm willing to work at it. like I said, I love learning new things. it won't be until May that I officially start working the bar, but I'll be helping pick things out for the bar and what not up until that point. going to tastings and everything to figure out what types/brands we want to sell.

I've even checked out a few books at the library, How to Run a Bar for Dummies, Bartending for Dummies, Wine for Dummies, and Beer for Dummies. I'm almost done with the how to run a bar one and I've learned so many good things already. I can't wait to read the others and learn even more.

I'm so excited!

has anyone ever bartended before? have any tips for me?

  2. That is fantastic! Congratulations, Cassie! I am sure you will rock this! I don't know anything about bartending but you can't go wrong with German beer, it is the best. :)
