drop the gloves

I love hockey. not playing it, watching it. if I tried to play it I'd probably just be laying on the ice the whole time trying to get up.

I got into hockey last season, on a random weekend day either my dad or Brian turned on a game. and since I didn't know what any of the penalties meant I googled. and understood. and was addicted right then and there. where has hockey been all my life? why haven't I been watching this sport? this is amazing! are all things I thought. I mean, my cousin played hockey his whole life. and I have more distant cousins that play too.

anyways, hockey is awesome. I love the intensity the crowd brings. believe it or not, the fans yell louder and are way more cheerful than any other sport. I go to a lot of baseball, basketball, and football games, and hockey is without a doubt more intense cheering wise. it's awesome.

and the players are total bad-asses. I've seen guys get injured and continue to play. I've seen, my favorite player, Brayden Schenn get sliced across his abdomen with a skate then come back and score the game-winning goal. like I said, they're complete bad-asses and it's awesome.

Cleveland, unfortunately, doesn't have a professional team, but we have the Lake Erie Monsters. which is a step below pro, and they're affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche. I went to my very first Monsters game last season and I was hooked. I went, I think, 5 times total. they were so much fun. I went to my first one of this season last Thursday.

I love the Monsters, but my favorite hockey team is the Philadelphia Flyers. why? I don't know. I just love the Flyers. I've never been the fan who cheers for a team that isn't their home team. until now. I went to my first professional hockey game in December. I saw the Columbus Blue Jackets take on my Flyers. it was awesome.

and that's why I think hockey is amazingly bad-ass.

birthday shout-out to one of my best friends, happy 21st Malone!

  1. I can't believe you haven't been watching hockey all your life, it seems like such a 'Cassie' sport! I love it, it's so good. Andrew Ladd played with something broken (shoulder?) when he won the Stanley Cup for the first time with the Blackhawks (2010.) Jay Cutler sits out when his pinky finger hurts. Hockey is infinitely better!

  2. It's definitely bad ass! But I have to admit that I have never watched a game. I guess I should. I grew up with soccer and I love it...but I have to agree....lots of the players are pussies and pretend to be hurt.
